Is Arizona a No-Fault insurance state?

In 2017 ADOT or the Arizona Department of Transportation reported a total of 127,064 motor-vehicle accidents. Arizona is considered an 'at-fault' state, meaning the law requires the at-fault motorist to pay for damages. Auto insurance companies in Arizona are responsible for covering any medical expenses or property damage the at-fault driver may have incurred.

Additionally, Arizona follows comparative negligence guidelines, which is capable of holding both parties partially responsible for an auto accident. If one of the drivers is entirely at fault then this doesn't apply, but when both motorists share the fault in the accident the procedure is slightly different. The fault is determined by way of percentage: If driver A was found 60% responsible for the accident and driver B was found 40% responsible, driver A's insurance company will cover up to 60% of all of Driver B's expenses and damages.

If the at-fault driver isn't insured or their policy isn't enough to cover damages, the injured motorist can use an Uninsured Motorist or Underinsured Motorist policy (If they have one) to make up for any gaps in coverage.
