The Cultural Significance of Soccer in the Hispanic Community

Soccer is more than just a game in Hispanic communities, it’s a tradition. Whether it’s a neighborhood match or the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Families and friends come together to celebrate, cheer, and gather around the grill for a BBQ. These moments go beyond sports; they're about pride, connection, and community. At Infinity Insurance Agency Inc. (IIA), we’re proud to support local families and share in their passion for soccer, both on and off the field. IIA is proud to support Hispanic families across the country. See how we celebrate and serve our community.

What to expect in the 2026 FIFA World Cup

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be historic, marking the first time over 48 teams will compete for the title of world champion. This World Cup will mark a massive shift in global soccer. The previous cup included 32 teams and bringing 16 more nations means more fans into the world's biggest sporting event. The 2026 World Cup is bringing several huge updates!

  • 104 total matches (up from 64 in the previous world cup)
  • More chances for underdog countries
  • New format: 12 groups of 4 teams each

Where the matches will be played (U.S. Host Cities)

This is going to be the first World Cup co-hosted by three countries: The United States, Mexico, and Canada. The United States will host most of the games, including the final. Mexico is going to host for the first time in 40 years! Canada will also make history by hosting men’s World Cup matches for the first time ever in 2026. Let's list some of the U.S Cities that will be hosting these matches:

  • Los Angeles
  • Houston
  • Miami
  • Dallas
  • Atlanta

Be sure to create a plan for these trips or if you are planning to have watch parties with friends and family! Many of these cities have strong Hispanic roots and vibrant soccer cultures. See how IIA supports local communities across the country through outreach, education, and events that bring people together.
